Peachy Canyon Winery Bailey Zinfandel 2019

Viticulture

David Bailey grew the beautiful USDA Organic grapes that make the Bailey Zinfandel. This is the only vineyard-designate Zinfandel that is produced at Peachy Canyon which is not grown by their own hands. Bailey Ranch is located on Peachy Canyon Road, at the southern end of the Santa Lucia Mountains, in the Adelaida District of Paso Robles.  This vineyard is at 1,700 feet in elevation, with steep sloping hillsides, comprised of calcareous limestone soil.  Farming practices are organic. The vines are head-trained and the vineyard is dry-farmed.

Vinification

Fermentation occurred primarily in a concrete tank for vintage 2019, and is one of the most beautiful vintages of Bailey Zinfandel yet. At roughly 10 months of age, and with malolactic fermentation complete, select barrels of Bailey Zinfandel were designated for use in the final blend. Once blended, the wine was returned to primarily seasoned French Oak barriques to continue to age until bottling in March of 2021.
